WORKS ON CANVAS - 2017- 2018 Outliers Series
In this series, I explore what it means to be a part of two different worlds, and while occupying both, not really belong to either.
Many times, in my life as a black man I have felt like I had two identities and wore two faces: neither of them being the real me. The subjects i paint, like me, are surviving in the
physical space created by our own doubts and insecurities. In America, we walk the tightrope between fear and emulation; being hated and being sought after; going pop or staying underground.
I use color, shape and pattern to represent the idea of different codes of conduct in different environments. Black & white interplays with bold patterns and colors that never quite mix.
